Summary: Wonderful story, a true
adventure and travel spirit. We tend to read and listen to life thru the media,
for the true experience you need to travel and see more for yourself. We can’t
let the media dictate how we live, we can’t let fear limit us from living. Use
common sense and stay
safe!
Esha Gupta is a firebrand. She is
confident, unapologetic, bold and on a very important mission - looking at
India beyond what is written about it.
"I have been traveling solo
since 2011 and I have never faced any untoward experiences. Being a traveler
means opening yourself up to experiences. If you expect a 100 per cent positive
experience when you are on the road then you do not understand travel. You must
learn to take what comes in your path with an open mind," she says.
"A
lot of people tell me that I have been lucky but that is not true. The warmth
and response I have received from the people I met is incredible," she
shares.

A graduate in Hotel Management, Esha
Gupta has worked in the hotel industry for years before she quit to take up
dance. After some time, Esha joined a corporate firm and excelled. She then
left her corporate career to travel, solo. Much later, she learnt to ride and
took up travelling on a bike full-time.
"That's
a man world - inside the office. That is tiring."
"I was all set with my
preparations to attempt the longest ride within the country ever attempted by a
woman when the news came of a woman in USA who had ridden across the country
five times and completed 78,000 kms," she says. "Since I had the
preparations in place, I thought I would attempt one in India as well and
although I would miss the Guinness record, I would still fulfill a childhood
dream."
"On the road, I was riding for
12 hours a day and apart from being alert on the road, I had enough time to let
my mind wander. I thought a lot about a lot of things. On the road, a singe
negative thought can trigger a deep and difficult depression. Steering clear of
the negativity in life is the best part."

"There are many women who still
fear traveling alone and to them I want to say, get out! Locking yourself in
four walls will not help solve any of your problems. There is a big world out
there where you can understand yourself well and work your way out of
problems," she says. "Get out of the four walls and see the world for
yourself instead of reading about it. No newspaper can tell you the complete
story of India. It is not possible to give the complete picture in 18
pages."
